Winston Corbett is an Indiana man who was sentenced to 115 years in prison this week in connection with the death of a Goshen College professor and the attempted murder of his wife.
Winston Corbett was 16 when he killed 58-year-old Jim Miller in 2011 and injured Linda Miller after breaking into his residence at Wildwood Court in Goshen, Indiana. ABC News reported that a jury convicted Corbett of first-degree murder and attempted murder charges last month.

Prosecutors said Corbett’s bike drove along a road to Miller’s house, about a mile from Corbett’s house. Corbett, wearing a dark hoodie and pants, entered the house through an open window and attacked Linda Miller, inflicting 25 stab wounds and 25 cut wounds.
Linda Miller said that after hearing a noise near the bathroom her eyes were closed and an object was hit. After hitting Linda multiple times, Corbett cut off her face and began stabbing her back and shoulders and stepped aside.
James Miller, who was in the living room at the time, ran to protect his wife when he heard his screams. Corbett started stabbing James. Linda said he threw a lamp on Corbett’s head but missed it. Later, James Miller pulled into the bathroom trying to fend off the intruders.
When the house was quiet, Linda Miller ran to her phone and called 911. When the police arrived, they found James Miller outside with stab wounds all over his body. Investigators said Corbett stabbed him more than once inside the house and continued the attack in Millers’ garage and driveway. Jim Miller was found dead next to his mailbox.

Corbett said he did not know the Miller couple and only knew one of their daughters at school. He denied that Miller was at his home and reportedly plans to appeal his conviction.
