A recent high school graduate is dead and his family is desperate to understand how a loving son and devoted friend would end up murdered.

Around 8:50 a.m. on the morning of July 27, Suwanee Police said William Slade Petty was found stabbed multiple times outside his apartment building off McGinnis Ferry Road.
Suwanee Police said they believe “people out there know who perpetrated the murder” and details on what may have led up to the murder. They are asking for anyone with information on the case to come forward. A $10,000 reward for information is being offered in the case.

Suwanee Police said after the incident that the officers immediately began a thorough search of the area to find a suspect. The Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office and the Gwinnett County Police helped the search, but so far there have been no arrests.
The authorities were mostly silent on the case due to the sensitivity of the investigation. However, the teen’s family said he had no known enemy and was his mother’s best friend, often spending time with him every time he spoke to him on the phone and told him “I love you,” said Kaitlyn Ross of NBC 11 Alive, who highlighted the case, reports.
“Slade Petty loved the Maple Bacon cake on his birthday every year,” wrote Ross. “I never hung up,” I love you Momma. “It was sweet, sensitive and fun. ”
