William Clegg Court Appearance
William Clegg was handcuffed on a transatlantic flight after allegedly attempting to headbutt the cabin crew after he managed to free himself from his reluctance, a court has heard.
Earlier judges heard allegations that he pulled a T-shirt over the head of a female flight attendant before pulling another employee to the ground.
At one point, Clegg was handcuffed, but managed to escape before continuing his “bizarre” rampage, the court said.
Clegg stood in a blue suit in front of the Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court, blaming five charges. He got drunk on an airplane and smoked on an airplane.
Neither did he plead guilty to acting in a threatening, abusive, offensive or disorderly manner towards a member of the flight crew.
Monique Duncan, the prosecutor, said: “It is a protracted incident on August 25 of this year. Mr. Clegg was a passenger who traveled to London Heathrow on the BA flight.
‘He was described as extremely annoying during the flight. One of the flight attendants served him a glass of wine but continued to ask for alcohol.
‘He became more and more aggressive. At some point, he pounced on an employee and put a T-shirt over her head. You can see that he walks around and climbs oversleeping passengers.
Clegg, of Notting Hill, west London, was released on unconditional bail to next appear at Isleworth Crown Court in January.
