Max Merritt (born Maxwell James Merritt) was a New Zealand-born singer-songwriter and guitarist. He is best known for his 1975 hit Slippin ‘Away, with his band Max Merritt and The Meteors.
Max was born in Christchurch, New Zealand in 1941. In 1964 he moved to Sydney and founded Max Merritt and Meteors.
