Whitney Turner Tyson is a 30-year-old woman has been arrested two days after a toddler was seen being thrown from a moving car, and died while first responders were waiting for paramedics.
KATV reports that Whitney Turner-Tyson was arrested on Tuesday night, though authorities did not confirm this until late the next day.
The report indicates that the Saline County Sheriff’s Office made the arrest. Turner-Tyson has been charged with capital murder, assault in the first degree, and endangering the welfare of an incompetent person.
a witness called police Tuesday morning to say they saw what may have been a doll that fell from a moving vehicle on Interstate 30 in Saline County. When police officers responded to the witness’s request for a wellness check, they found a boy of about 2 years old. According to local reports, the boy was initially alive but died before he could be transferred to a hospital.
The authorities have not released the child’s name or confirmed the relationship between the child and the woman in custody.
Early Tuesday morning, two children were killed in a separate incident when they were hit by a trailer truck while stopped in the lane of traffic on a highway in another part of the state. An Arkansas State Police source told CrimeOnline Wednesday that that incident is also the focus of a criminal investigation.
Turner-Tyson is reportedly being held without bail at the Saline County Jail.
