Authorities in California are searching for a 19-year-old Veta Belford who abruptly disappeared after learning she had been laid off from her job at a Home Depot in Sacramento.

Like “Dateline”, Veta Belford hasn’t been seen since October 17th. That day, her father took her to work for 2 pm. She had her shift at Home Depot, and when her mother’s shift ended around 23:30, she went to the store to pick it up.

 

“My mom texted” Dateline “and said she was waiting outside in the car,” Veta’s sister Easter Kitiona told “Dateline.” He waited a bit, but when my sister was still not out a few minutes before midnight, she went to find out.

 

According to the report, Veta’s mother learned that her daughter had not appeared in the shop since afternoon after learning that she had been fired.

 

“What we don’t understand is why he didn’t call someone for a ride,” Easter told “Dateline.”

 

Just got out of the parking lot and that’s it. We don’t know where to go or who to meet. It doesn’t make sense. “

 

Easter told “Dateline” that the surveillance footage showed Veta, a business management department in Sacramento State and a leader of a church youth group, walking around 15:45 in the parking lot of the Home Depot. the day it was last seen. Reportedly heading towards Applebees and AT&T store.

 

A representative of the Sacramento Police Department Public Relations Bureau told “Dateline” that a detective from the police department’s missing persons unit had been assigned to the Belford case since it was reported on October 18th.

 

Veta Belford was last seen on October 17, 2020. Easter told Dateline that he used Veta to work at the Home Depot on Truxel Road in Sacramento, California, for their dad’s shift, which started at 2 p.m. When their mother went to the market around 23:30. To get it, Veta was nowhere to be found.

Easter told his mother that Veta was told she was leaving the store that afternoon. Later, they learned from the manager that he had been fired.

Veta’s mother reported the disappearance to the Sacramento Police Department just after midnight on October 18, while family members and friends roamed the area in search of her.

 

According to the Sacramento Police Department Public Relations Office team, a detective, along with the missing persons unit, has been assigned to Veta’s case and is currently following the open and active investigation.

 

Easter told Dateline that the detectives later told their family that a security video showed Veta exiting the Home Depot parking lot in the direction of Applebee and AT&T. She was wearing a brownish / orange striped flannel shirt, jeans, a rainbow ring, and a small crossbody bag. The timestamp in the video was 15:45. – almost two hours to his shift.

 

Easter added that next to his sister is a cell phone and a phone charger. However, when his family members tried to call him that night, and the following days, the phone was turned off.

 

“The charger is always with him in case he might need to charge his phone,” Easter said. It’s funny how his phone is turned off.

 

Easter told Dateline that they were a tight-knit family that spent most of their time together at home or in church. She added that her parents’ home was a loving environment and she saw no reason for her sister to leave on her own.

 

Living at home with her parents and two sisters, Veta is a full-time student in Sacramento State where she specializes in business management. He devotes most of his time to the role of youth leader in his church.

 

“He’s very interested in the Church and loves the youth role,” Easter said. “We don’t believe he’s leaving … that’s why we’re so worried about him.”

 

The sisters posted a montage of Veta’s photos and related information on various social media accounts, including TikTok and online missing persons groups specific to the Samoa-Polynesian heritage.

 

“I hope someone saw him and contacted us,” said Easter. “Any information can help – we just need to know that our brother is fine.”

 

 

Veta is 5’4 ”tall, weighs about 215 pounds and has brown eyes and black hair. He was most recently known to wear a brownish / orange striped flannel shirt, jeans, a rainbow ring and a small crossbody bag.
