Valerie Peck Biography – Valerie Peck Wiki
Valerie Peck, 40, was arrested and charged with murder and child abuse after police said she shot and killed her two-year-old son in Uintah County, on the east side of Utah, before driving around for hours with his body in the car. The Uintah County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release that on December 14, Peck killed her son Zack and then shot herself, suffering “serious” injuries.
After being treated for his injuries, Peck was discharged from the hospital and detained on December 15th. She is now being held in Uintah County Prison on aggravated murder and child abuse charges.
The sheriff’s office first shared that they responded to a gunfight at 2:25 PM near Fantasy Canyon in central Uintah County on December 14. In the first press release, it was stated that lawmakers found the woman “on Glen Bench Road in State No. 45” and the boy died on arrival. “The deputy woman, described as the mother of the child, received medical treatment at the scene before being hospitalized due to the severity of her injuries,” the authorities said.
In the next press release, the sheriff’s office said the investigation revealed that Peck and his son Zack were driving into the Dry Fork Canyon area on December 14. Authorities said the two spent some time at a campsite before Zack was killed. “After spending some time in the area, Peck put his son back in the vehicle and shot him with a 22-caliber rifle. Gaga then shot herself, ”the press release said.
Peck then traveled the area for a few more hours before being found by the sheriff’s aides.
A Police Oath Statement Reveals Peck Hitting Himself Twice To Kill Him
According to Deseret News, a police statement stated that Peck shot himself “in the upper extremities” twice after he killed his son by attempting suicide. He wrote in the sworn statement that when he could not kill himself, he went to another canyon and tried to “freeze to die”, where he was found by the deputies of the sheriff. Peck stayed at the campsite for about 30 minutes before shooting his son, he said:
Valerie then fired the .22 rifle and shot herself twice. Valerie told me she was trying to kill herself. When that didn’t work, he toured Uintah County and then decided to go to Fantasy Canyon. When I asked what he would do in Fantasy Canyon, he told me he didn’t know, maybe he would freeze to death.
Detectives did not say whether the call to the authorities was coming from Peck or someone else. A Facebook page that looks like it belongs to the mother reveals that she has a husband named David. The two have an older child together. Detectives demanded that Peck’s bail be denied as his other son and husband were in the area.
According to Deseret News, Peck was involved in an incident at the Ashley District Medical Center in Vernal, Utah, in early July and was accused of trespassing. The exit reported that at that time her husband called the court and reported that Peck was struggling with mental health issues. Peck didn’t want any contests in September.
