Young Faizutdinov was skating for his Dynamo St. Petersburg’s squad in a playoff matchup against Loko Yaroslavl on Friday, March 12, when his opponent accidentally flipped a puck at his head. The frozen rubber caught Faizutdinov up high near his temple.The captain immediately fell to the ground in pain and was rushed to the hospital.

The club Dynamo St. Petersburg confirmed that Faizutdino sustained injury in the head during the game with Loko Yaroslavl on 12th March 2021.
“Timur Faizutdinov was injured on March 12 in Yaroslavl during a match against Lokomotiv. The puck hit the head area, the player was hospitalized in serious condition. Doctors fought for his life for three days,” the statement said.

Faizutdino died at the age of 19 after being hit in the head by a puck, his club announced in a statement on Tuesday.
