A quaint Cotsworld village is today at the centre of a murder probe after Tara Long in her 40s was found dead.
Police arrested a man in his 40s this morning after the woman’s body was found on a property in the picturesque village of Great Rissington, Gloucestershire.
The death of the woman, locally referred to as self-employed upholsterer Tara Long, is now treated as inexplicable.
Today, Ms. Long’s social media profile was tribute by her friends.
Someone said: ‘Rest in peace, beautiful soul my sister and our birthday twin, we have had our ups and downs but love was always there, hugs and laughter.
“We came to the world on the same day, but you left us too early, there will always be a piece of my heart missing, but I know it will still be with me.”
Another: I am very sorry to hear that you were leaving, honey. Rest in peace now, sweet angel.
The third wrote: ‘Now sleep well, Tara, love to all those who are loved.’
According to her social media profile, Ms. Long has lived in Great Rissington since 2013 and attends The Cotsworld School in the nearby town of Bourton-on-the-Water.
The neighbors have since been shocked by the news of a death in the village.
“People may rest in peace,” said a neighbor who did not want to be named. This is sad. I didn’t know him that much.
The police arrived around 11:30 pm and has not left since then. An ambulance came here and the first response and then the police started to arrive.
It is not really expected here.
Police said a man in his 40s had been arrested in connection with the death. The man is detained today.
A Gloucestershire Police spokesperson said, ‘There will be ongoing police activity at the address due to the investigation conducted after the woman’s death.
The police were called by the ambulance service to the address where a woman is deceased today at around 11:35 pm.
At this early stage of the investigation, the death of the woman in her 40s is treated as inexplicable while investigating.
His closest relative was informed and the forensic officer was also informed.
“The police will probably stay in the area for a few days while the investigation is ongoing.”

The force spokesperson added: ‘With the ongoing police activity, the Gloucestershire Constabulary wants to reassure the local community that there is no wider threat to the public in connection with this incident.

A ‘stunning village’ of 367 people in Great Rissington Cotswold, according to the village’s community website.
The village has a church, a pub and a local cricket club. It was once home to the British geologist and science historian Victor Ambrose Eyles, who lived there for a short time in the early 1960s.
