Singer and reality television star Tamar Braxton was rushed to a Los Angeles hospital Thursday night after possibly overdosing and attempting suicide, several media outlets reported Friday.
The 43-year-old singer was rushed to an LA-area hospital after she was found unresponsive around 9:45 p.m. Thursday at the Ritz Carlton Residences in downtown Los Angeles, The Blast first reported. Sources say Braxton overdosed on pills and alcohol, and they believe this was a suicide attempt. She remains at the unnamed hospital on a 24-hour watch, but her condition is unknown.
Tamar Estine Braxton (born March 17, 1977) is an American singer, actress, and television personality.
Braxton began her career in 1990 as a founding member of The Braxtons, an R&B singing group formed with her sisters. The Braxtons released their debut album, So Many Ways, as a trio in 1996, and disbanded shortly afterward. In 2000, she released her debut self-titled album through DreamWorks Records. Following a thirteen-year break, Braxton released her second studio album, Love and War (2013), through Epic Records, which reached the number two position on the Billboard 200 chart. She released her second album Calling All Lovers and third album Bluebird of Happiness in 2015 and 2017, respectively. Braxton has won a BET Award and three Soul Train Music Awards throughout her career. She has also been nominated for four Grammy Awards.
Since 2011, Braxton has starred in the We TV reality television series Braxton Family Values alongside her mother and sisters. She also served as a co-host of the Fox Broadcasting Company syndicated daytime talk show The Real from 2013 until 2016. She has received two Daytime Emmy Award nominations for her work on The Real. In 2019, she was the winner of the second season of Celebrity Big Brother.

Tamar Braxton Suicide, Rushed to Hospital
According to TMZ, her boyfriend David Adefeso, who was staying with her at the hotel, told the police that she was upset and threatened suicide early on Thursday. Law enforcement sources say that the “Braxton Family Values” star did not leave a note, but described the reason for his hospitalization as “possible suicide attempt” according to TMZ. The couple usually broadcasts part of their YouTube show “Coupled & Quarantined” on Thursdays, but was postponed on Thursday without explanation.
Officers were called around 9.45 in the morning. A Los Angeles Police Department spokesman said that a woman went to Ritz Carlton Residences on 900 blocks on Olympic Boulevard, where she was unresponsive and unconscious. She moved to the California Hospital Medical Center, which is consistently listed about a mile from the skyscraper.
A source later confirmed to KABC that the hospitalized woman was Braxton.
No other information was disclosed immediately.
One of Braxton’s four sisters is singer Toni Braxton. Tamar Braxton is a hatch of the ABC reality contest show “Dancing with the Stars” and the reality show “Braxton Family Values”.
In November 2015, Tamar Braxton announced that this season is leaving the “Dance with the Stars” contest, as blood clots are diagnosed on both sides.
