Thailand’s royal website crashed on Monday after it released photos of the king’s consort in a fighter jet, wearing a crop top and dressed in combat fatigues while standing with him and the royal poodle.

The unusually candid pictures of King Maha Vajiralongkorn’s consort, 34-year-old Major-General Sineenat Wongvajirapakdi, were released along with her official biography.

A palace official said the website was being fixed because of the volume of traffic.

King Maha Vajiralongkorn bestowed the rank of ‘Chao Khun Phra’ or noble consort on the 34-year-old former army nurse Sineenat Wongvajirapakdi on his 67th birthday in July.

She is the first woman to receive the noble rank in nearly a century.

“Update” Thai King dismisses royal consort

An official announcement said that Sineenat Wongvajirapakdi had been “ambitious” and was trying to “get into the same state as the queen.”

“The behavior of the royal wife was considered disrespectful,” he said.

She was named in July, just two months after the king married Queen Suthida, his fourth wife.

Sineenat, general and trained senior pilot, nurse and bodyguard, was the first person to be named Royal Noble Consort for almost a century.

Queen Suthida, a former 41-year-old flight attendant and deputy head of her bodyguard, has been a partner of King Vajiralongkorn and has been seen with him in public for many years.
The announcement that Sineenat had stripped of its titles was published Monday in the Royal Gazette. For the royal wife, who often sided with King Vajiralongkorn for several years, it meant a sudden loss of grace.

Even after the king’s wedding with Queen Suthida, Sineenart was a regular guest at the royal events.

What did the palace say?

The statement issued on Monday said that before the coronation in May, Sineenat had “shown opposition and pressure in all aspects to stop the appointment of the Queen.”

“The king gave him a royal marriage position, hoping to ease the pressure and a problem that could affect the monarchy,” the statement said.

What about the king’s women?

He had four wives: Princess Soamsawali from 1977 to 1993; Yuvadhida Polpraserth from 1994 to 1996; Srirasmi Suwadee between 2001 and 2014; and queen Suthida.

The true cause of Sineenart’s deposition as a royal consort should never be made public, given the secret that hides the affairs of the palace in Thailand. The majestic law of the nation prohibits any insult to the monarchy and is among the strictest in the world.
