Shannon Rupert, of Shreveport, died Friday at LSU Ochsner Hospital. The deadly shooting happened at about 5:45 a.m. Friday when Bossier City police responded to a complaint about a disorderly person at the LaQuinta Inn, where Rupert was staying.

She says the officer told Rupert several times to put down the scissors but she then aggressively approached the officer, who shot her in the upper torso.

The video shows the horrible moment when a police officer fatally shoots a woman who is believed to be under the influence of drugs, as he rejected instructions to throw a pair of scissors he wielded into the hotel lobby.

The body camera and the closed-circuit video of the incident show that Bossier City police officer Patrick Edmonds Jr shot and killed Shannon Rupert, 45, in the lobby of the LaQuinta Inn hotel in Bossier City, Louisiana, in the morning of October 25.

A review of the incident carried out by the Bossier Parish District Attorney’s Office has concluded that Edmonds was justified in the use of force, according to the Shreveport Times.
