Robert Hayes Victims

Hayes also has been named a suspect in three other killings of Julie Green, Laquetta Gunther, and Iwana Patton, who were all murdered near Daytona Beach between 2005 and 2008, but was not charged in those murders. Fourth Victim Stacy Gage was killed in January 2008

Robert Hayes Victim Stacy Gage

30-year-old Stacy Gage was killed in January 2008 under similar circumstances but has not been linked to the other cases and Hayes by DNA

Robert Hayes Victim Laquetta Gunther

The first of the three unsolved murders took place on Christmas Eve 2005 when 45-year-old Laquetta Gunther was gunned down. Her body was found in a kneeling position between Madison Avenue and Beach Street.

Robert Hayes Victim Julie Green

On January 14, 2006,  Julie Green, 34, was found dead in a ditch along LPGA Boulevard. She was a mother of four who worked as a prostitute and was battling drug addiction.

Robert Hayes Victim Iwana Patton

A month later, police found the body of 35-year-old Iwana Patton, a nurse’s aid and possibly a sex worker.

Rachel Bey Murder and Investigation Reports

‘We believe we took a serial killer off the streets. We’re going to be looking for additional victims,’ Palm Beach sheriff’s Capt. Michael Wallace said.

He said investigators will focus on the span between the Daytona Beach killings in 2005 and 2006 and Bey’s death a decade later.

On March 7, 2016, Bey was last seen by a friend walking along a highway around 2am. She found strangled to death along Beeline Highway in Jupiter by a road crew a few hours later.

DNA evidence was collected from her body, and it matched DNA evidence found on three of the other victims.

Investigators used a relative’s DNA found on a popular online database to track Hayes down. A week ago, police surreptitiously picked up a cigarette butt discarded by Hayes as he was waiting for a bus. Testing after his arrest show 700-billion-to-1 odds that the killer is someone other than Hayes, 100 times the world’s population.

At the time of the Daytona Beach killings, Hayes was a student at the city’s Bethune-Cookman University. It was only through advances in DNA technology that allowed detectives to link Hayes to the Daytona Beach murders, Police Chief Craig Capri said.

Robert Hayes Charges

He was charged with first-degree murder. Daytona Beach Police Chief Craig Capri said during a separate press conference Monday that Hayes was interviewed about 14 years ago but there was no evidence to charge him. Capri said Hayes was a student at Bethune Cookman University at the time.
