Rebekah Jones Wiki – Rebekah Jones Biography
Florida police, using firearms, raided the home of health department data scientist Rebekah Jones, who built the Covid-19 control panel before being fired for disobedience.
Florida Police Department confirmed the early morning investigation after Jones shared 30 seconds of the match on Twitter.
He has been under investigation since early November, when someone had illegal access to the state’s emergency alert health system.
At 8:30 this morning, the state police came to my house and took all my hardware and technology. They were ordering a search on my computer after DOH filed a complaint, ” he wrote.
They pointed a gun at my face. They pointed a gun at my children.
The footage shows Jones opening the front door of the house to reveal an armed and uniformed FDLE agent.
The agent orders him out before asking who else is in the house. When she replies to her husband and children, the agent approaches the ladder and shouts for the husband to come down.
‘Police! Get down now! The warrant says, ‘The agent shouts by holding his firearm against the ladder. ‘
When Agent told Jones to calm down, “He pointed a gun at my kids!” He yells.
At least four FDLE agents were seen in the available images.
Jones was recognized nationally earlier this year for his work on creating Florida’s Covid-19 board while working with the Department of Health.
He was fired from his position as a geographic information system manager for ‘disobedience’ after several reprimands and public statements about the data.
However, Jones claimed that Florida was fired for refusing to alter Covid-19 health data to paint a more optimistic picture.
Jones blogged early on in the outbreak and reached out to media outlets and researchers, raising doubts about the reliability of the data as he was no longer in that role.
The data was crucial as the governor was trying to make highly controversial decisions about whether to reopen Florida’s economy.
State paramedics vehemently deny any problem with the accuracy of the information.
Jones wrote in a July Op-Ed at the Miami Herald, arguing that state employees were discouraged from talking about the state’s data collection and response.
It has since created its own Covid-19 control panel across the country.
They took my phone and computer that I use every day to submit case numbers in Florida and school cases for the whole country. They got evidence of corruption at the state level. They claimed it was about a security breach on Twitter on Monday.
Jones blamed the search warrant solely on Governor Ron DeSantis.
This was DeSantis. He sent the Gestapo, ‘he wrote.
This is what happens to scientists who do their job honestly. This is what happens to people who tell the truth to power. I told them that my husband and two children were upstairs … THEN one of them pulls his gun. In my children. This is Desantis’s Florida.
In his last tweet, he claimed that the raid was done to silence him.
“If Desantis thought pointing a gun at my face was a good way to silence me, he’s about to find out how wrong he was,” Jones wrote.
I will have a new computer tomorrow. And then I’ll get back to work. ‘
An FDLE spokesperson told Tampa Bay Times that Jones issued a search warrant after suspected of hacking into the health department’s website and sending an unauthorized message.
The message, sent on 10 November, was sent to members of the State Emergency Response Team, which coordinates public health and medical responses.
The message told the members to speak before ‘17,000 more people died. You know this is wrong. You don’t need to be a part of it. Be a hero. Speak before it’s too late. ‘
Jones refused to interfere and told reporters he didn’t know “how to do these things”.
An FDLE spokesman discussed the search warrant in a statement to the Tallahassee Democrat Monday evening.
‘FDLE launched an investigation on November 10, 2020 after receiving a complaint from the Ministry of Health regarding unauthorized access to the Ministry of Health messaging system, which is part of an emergency alert system for use only in emergencies.
‘Lady. Jones refused to come to the door for 20 minutes and shut down the agents. After several attempts and verbal reports that law enforcement was there to order a legal search, Ms. Jones eventually came to the door and allowed agents to enter. Ms. Jones’s family was upstairs when the agents entered the house.
“As in all cases, our role is to establish the facts of what happened, and a State Attorney determines whether the charges will be brought.”
