A New York man has been arrested for allegedly murdering Peter Pendzinski and then setting the victim’s body on fire, WCBS-TV reports.
According to News 12 Long Island, police were summoned to a house on Long Island in Shirley, New York, at approximately 2:30 AM on Saturday to investigate a 911 backyard fire report.
When officers from the Suffolk County Police Department arrived at the residence, they found a burning body on the property. The police put out the fire.
Officers also found 20-year-old Peter Pendzinski in the garden. According to WABC-TV, the size of the burns was not released, but there were burns on his body.
According to Newsday’s report, Pendzinski, who lived in the house, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder.
Pendzinski was also hospitalized for non-life-threatening injuries and is expected to be arranged at the First District Court in New York’s Central Islip, according to the newspaper.
The Suffolk County Medical Examination Office will perform an autopsy on the victim to help determine the cause and form of death.
The victim is believed to be a man, according to WPIX-TV. No information about his identity and relationship with Pendzinski was published.
