Obiageli Ezekwesili 28 April 1963 popularly known as Oby Ezekwesili is a Nigerian chartered accountant from Anambra state. Oby is married to Pastor Nedu Ezekwesili of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG). Ezekwesili was a co-founder of Transparency International, serving as one of the pioneer directors of the global anti-corruption body based in Berlin, Germany. Oby Ezekwesili served as Federal Minister of Solid Minerals and then as Federal Minister of Education during the second-term presidency of Olusegun Obasanjo. finally, Ezekwesili was a 2018 nominee for the Nobel Peace Prize for her work in transparency in the extractive sector.
Oby Ezekwesili Bio
Ezekwesili holds a master’s degree in International Law. Diplomacy from the University of Lagos, as well as a Master of Public Administration degree from the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University. Oby trained with the firm of Deloitte and Touche and qualified as a chartered accountant.
Prior to working for the Government of Nigeria, “Ezekwesiili was working with Professor Jeffrey Sachs” at the Center for International Development at Harvard.
Oby Ezekwesili Presidential Race News
The main female candidate in Nigeria’s upcoming presidential election Ezekwesili is withdrawing. Her candidacy to help build a coalition to defeat the ruling All Progressive Congress.
Oby Ezekwesili of the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN) announced. Her decision on Thursday in a series of posts on Twitter as well as Facebook.
“I have decided to step down from the presidential race. She focuses on helping to build a Coalition for a viable alternative to the #A.P.C.P.D.P. In the 2019 general elections,” Ezekwesili said.
“This coalition for a viable alternative has now more than ever before become an urgent mission for and on behalf of the citizenry,” Ezekwesili added.
Her decision to step down surprised some of her supporters.
