Jordan Rapana on Saturday paid an emotional tribute to his former Raiders teammate and close friend while speaking on Fox League Live.
“I was hesitant to do this interview as it’s so raw, it only just happened yesterday, but I just wanted Australia and the world to really know how good of a bloke Mitch is,” Rapana said.
“He’s one of those guys where he’s everybody’s best mate. He just has a positive aura about him, you just want to be around him.
“He wasn’t a loud guy, he didn’t talk much. He was quite shy and very reserved who didn’t like the limelight. But his action spoke louder than words.”
Rapana added: “He wasn’t an emotional guy, he’s probably looking at me, you know, giving me shit if I’m going to sit here and cry.”
QRL competitions manager Dave Maiden said Cronin was an outstanding person and leader who inspired those around him.
“Mitchell was a fantastic leader of men and a quality player,” Maiden said.
“More importantly though, he was a quality human being who will be mourned by many and missed by all.
“The people who came across him will be in state of disbelief … he’s one of the good ones.” Seagulls’ chief executive Hanan Laban described him as a quiet achiever who was fearless on the field, yet humble and modest.
