Missing 11-year-old boy found dead: Aiden Blanchard Biography, Wiki
Authorities in Massachusetts have positively identified a body found earlier this week as missing 11-year-old Aidan Blanchard.
Aiden Blanchard Found Dead
According to MassLive, Hampden County officials have confirmed that the Chicopee boy’s Aiden Blanchard body was found in the Connecticut River Wednesday. Blanchard had been missing since February 5, when he went for a walk, and was last seen near Medina Street Boat Ramp at the Connecticut River.
Police divers found the body late Wednesday morning as part of their ongoing search for the missing boy, which had been hampered by unfavorable weather conditions.
The boy’s body was reportedly found in the river between the North End Bridge and the Memorial Bridge in Springfield, which neighbors Chicopee.
Authorities have said they do not suspect foul play, but have not yet determined the boy’s cause of death. An investigation is ongoing.
Aiden Blanchard Missing
Aiden Blanchard was reported missing nearly a month ago after he left home in Chicopee to walk to the Medina Street Boat Launch at the Connecticut River on that Friday at about 11:30, and did not return. Shortly after his disappearance, police announced that they believed Aiden had walked near the WWLP-22 News Broadcast Center the day he disappeared, and asked for anyone who was in the area between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. that day to come forward.
Investigators also searched the two waterways that the area behind the station building lead to, without finding evidence of the missing boy.
As CBS Boston reports, multiple agencies are joining a renewed water search for the missing boy on Wednesday, and have advised the public to avoid the boat ramp area.
