An angry Ald. Jeanette Taylor (20) said that 18-year-old Miracle Boyd from the GoodKids MadCity group was attacked by a police officer during the tense protest that pepper-sprayed protesters tried to demolish an almost 90-year-old Columbus statue. year. .

GoodKids MadCity then tweeted, showing that Boyd had multiple injuries to his face and chipped teeth. They then tweeted video footage they said was showing a police officer that Boyd beat her face.
Essence Gatheright, a 16-year-old member of the Chicago Freedom School’s protest youth leadership committee, said that Boyd was speaking at the rally that night.
Gatheright helped Boyd get medical help at the Liberty School after he was hit.
“His teeth came out, it was really bad,” Gatheright said. “He was bleeding, he continued to cry and cry. It was really awful. … We were able to walk her and others to school and support her, and we made sure she returned home safely. ”
Alden. Taylor said Boyd was a “good boy, a CPS graduate,” and helped raise money for the most vulnerable people in his community.
