Michael Troy Hutto Wiki – Michael Troy Hutto Bio
Michael Troy Hutto is a co-founder of the Salt Life clothing brand who is accused of murdering a teenager whose body was found in a south Florida hotel room, the Florida Times-Union reports.
Authorities arrested 54-year-old Michael Troy Hutto on Friday, whom police said were suspected of shooting and killing 18-year-old Lora Grace Duncan.
Duncan’s family had asked the police to check on him after learning that he had voluntarily left with someone in the Jacksonville area. Detectives later determined that the woman might have been in a hotel on Riviera Beach, about 300 miles south of Jacksonville.
The boy’s body was found in that place Thursday morning.
Investigators later found Hutto, who was experiencing an uncertain medical emergency, and was hospitalized before being incarcerated in the Jacksonville area, according to WJXT.
According to photos posted by Florida Highway Patrol on Twitter, Hutto was wearing a green hospital gown when he was arrested and put in a police car.
He was arrested without bail on an arrest warrant, accusing him of manslaughter and possession of heavy weapons, according to the Times-Union, according to prison records.
“Our deepest sympathy goes to the family of the victim of this tragic incident,” Columbia County Sheriff Mark Hunter said in a press release. “While we hope for a better outcome, we will assist in any way possible to help bring those responsible to justice.”
How Hutto and Duncan knew each other has not been made public.
On Saturday, Salt Life posted on Facebook that Hutto had no role with the company since 2013.
“Unfortunately we learned that one of the founders of Salt Life was accused of a serious crime,” the article writes. “Salt Life conveys the greatest sympathy for the family and friends of the deceased. Salt Life’s founding partners sold all their businesses to their new owners in 2013. The founding partners have not been associated with the brand in any way since their acquisition in 2013. “
