Martin Gorst Wiki – Martin Gorst Biography

A police officer on duty at a fast-moving ticket office was sentenced to 10 months in prison today to delete video evidence showing that he was doing 37 mph per hour in 30 areas while wearing a cowboy hat.

55-year-old Martin Gorst removed video evidence and modified computer records to avoid speeding penalties in January 2015 and between October 30 and November 5 last year.

The system administrator, who worked for the North Wales Police for 16 years at the central ticket office in St Asaph, has now pleaded guilty to trying to disrupt the course of justice.

Mold Crown Court heard of crimes when a speed camera van caught Gorst while he was traveling at 37 miles per hour in 30 areas while wearing a cowboy hat.

The officer in the van recognized Gorst, but saw that the recording was deleted on November 1 and replaced by another image.

Further investigation revealed that the defendant also altered computer records to help his wife Angela survive another speeding offense committed a few years ago.

Gorst, from Rhuddlan, Lon Cwybr, North Wales, was sentenced to ten months in prison for ‘two very serious crimes that are at the heart of our justice system’.

Judge Rhys Rowlands said that the resigned Gorst took advantage of her position ‘in a rather cynical violation’ – adding that a ‘deterrent’ had been called.

“As a police officer, you were trusted to access sensitive information and you were expected to run your business with care and trust,” the judge said.

After you got away with it in 2015, you did it again last year, be sure to stay with you for the second time, no doubt. Such behavior can only be viewed as calculated. ‘

Judge Rowlands added: “These crimes are too serious to be dealt with in any way other than an immediate prison sentence.”

Gorst was a member of a development group responsible for data protection for fixed penalty handling systems.

The other two drivers also fled for speeding because of their behavior last year.

At the prosecutor’s office, Andrew Green said Gorst is head of a national development group for fixed penalty handling systems.

Roger Brown said it was ‘insane’ in defense, citing Gorst’s previously clean driver’s license.

There was really no reason for him to do this. His main concern was that he did not want his wife to discover this because he would be very upset, ” Mr Brown told the court.

Mold Crown Court also heard that Gorst wanted to relieve his wife’s distress after her stepdaughter died on Christmas Day in 2014 – her funeral was held the day before the 2015 crime.

“There is no suggestion that you know anything about this,” Brown said. It was all his job.
