Mark Gooch is identified as the suspect killer of Sasha Krause who was killed in Jan. Gooch was arrested at Luke Air Force Base.
Gooch is an Airman First Class with the United States Air Force, according to Coconino County Sheriff’s Office Spokesman Jon Paxton.

The victim, identified as 27-year-old Sasha Krause, was last seen picking up items from a Mennonite church in northwestern New Mexico on January 18. Her body was found in February near Sunset Crater Volcano and Wupaki national monuments, more than 270 miles away from where she was last seen. Officials are calling Krause’s death a homicide.

Gooch Arrested

According to a news release, detectives from Coconino County and San Juan County Sheriff’s departments served search warrants and arrested 21-year-old Mark Gooch at Luke Air Force Base in Glendale, Arizona. Detectives with the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office learned that during the time Sasha Krause went missing, Gooch had traveled to Farmington. Further investigation placed him near Sunset Crater in Coconino County where Krause’s body was later found.

Sasha Krause Murder Investigations

According to CCSO investigators, during the time Krause went missing, Gooch had travelled from Luke Air Force Base to Farmington. An investigation also placed Gooch near Sunset Crater.
An investigation into the case is ongoing, according to officials with CCSO.
A spokesperson for Luke Air Force Base said while they are aware of Gooch’s arrest, they are unable to comment due to the ongoing criminal investigation.

Flagstaff, AZ – “On April 21, 2020 around 9:20 am, Detectives from Coconino County Sheriff’s Office accompanied by Detectives from San Juan County Sheriff’s Office, New Mexico served search warrants and arrested Mark Gooch at Luke Air Force Base in Glendale, AZ for the homicide of Sasha Krause. Sasha Krause had been reported as a missing person from the Mennonite Community in Farmington, NM in January 2020. She was located deceased in Coconino County in February 2020.
Detectives with the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office, through their investigation, learned that during the time Sasha Krause went missing, Gooch had traveled from Luke Air Force Base, where he lives, to Farmington, New Mexico. Further investigation placed Gooch near Sunset Crater in Coconino County where Krause’s body was located.
Multiple state and federal agencies worked together on this investigation which led to the arrest of Gooch. Coconino County Sheriff Jim Driscoll would like to thank San Juan County Sheriff Shane Ferrari and his staff for their ongoing coordinated efforts in the investigation, the Department of Public Safety Crime Lab, Glendale Police Department, Office of Special Investigation Detachment 421, U.S. Air Force and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
