Marilane Carter disappeared more than a week ago. Since then, her husband, Adam Carter, has made good use of social media as a platform to recruit help in finding his wife.
The search for a missing Overland Park mother has moved to the water.

“The biggest need that we need help with right now is we need volunteers to help us search the river right around the I-55 bridge there in Memphis,” he said in a public address.
Marilane Carter, an Overland Park mother of three, left on Aug. 1 for Birmingham, Alabama, where her family lives. She was headed there to get help with mental health concerns.
He left around 8 pm. That evening. A hotel in West Plains, Missouri provided a security video to the police showing that he was checking in at around 3 am the next morning. His family said he stayed there for about three hours, then set off again until he got close to Memphis.
This is the last time Marilane spoke to her husband and mother on the phone, and the investigators texted her cell phone for the last time. It was a few miles from the Mississippi River, near the Arkansas-Tennessee border.
The police searched the land, but as the search entered the water, his family now seek help.
“We need people with a boat and very good sonars and experience navigating the Mississippi River,” said Adam Carter. “This helps us in trying to rule out the worst possible scenario of the river and that region.”
Nexstar sister station WREG in Memphis is about the search expected to begin on 13 August.
Brady McLaughlin, who is married to Marilane’s sister, said that her relatives are grateful for what the police in West Memphis, Arkansas have done so far. However, aside from the Overland Park police, they will also want more information from the organizations working in the case.
“There are still questions we expect to hear as a family. We would love to have local law enforcement officers in McLaughlin, West Memphis and Memphis step in and help complete some of them because what we’re doing is what we think should have happened to try to find Marilane,” he said.
FOX4 called the Crittenden County Sheriff’s Office, but the person answering the phone transferred our team to several voicemail boxes before another person answered and told us to call back between 8 AM and 3 PM.
McLaughlin said that the couple’s children stayed with relatives in the subway area.
