Mantwa Khoza was best known as the wife of PSL Chairman Irvin Khoza. Mantwa is reported to have died on Friday, January 17th, 2020. Mantwa Khoza’s death comes a day before Pirates meet Highlands Park in their Absa Premiership fixture at Orlando Stadium on Saturday night.
Mantwa Khoza and Irvin Khoza
Mantwa and Irvin have been married for decades. The couple had three children named Sonono Khoza, Mpumi Khoza, Nkosana Khoza. They also had one grandchild named Thandekile Matina Zuma. She was Irvin Khoza’s second wife.
Their daughter, Irvin Kohza died back in 2006 of Aids-related complications at a Pretoria hospital at the age of 30. Zodwa Khoza who served as the Orlando Pirates club’s brand manager died of what doctors described as multiple organ failure at the Louis Pasteur Hospital in Pretoria. Her mother and two brothers were at her bedside.
Conveying the party’s condolences to the Khozas, spokesperson Mbuyiseni Ndlozi wished Khoza comfort as he mourned.
“To lose a wife is to lose a life partner, a love companion and a friend indeed. It is the end of a significant part of oneself; the end of an entire life in you. The pain Dr. Khoza is going through is truly incomprehensible and can never be fully expressed in words,” Ndlozi said in a statement.
“To the children and the rest of the family: a mother is a powerful tree, providing shade of comfort in good and bad times. To lose a mother is thus one of the greatest losses anyone can ever experience. We feel their pain and pray for great strength for them.
“Finally, we express our condolences to the entire Orlando Pirates FC family; Mama was as important to them as she was to the entire Khoza family.”
