Mahlon Reyes, a deckhand on Discovery Channel’s reality show “Deadliest Catch,” died on July 27. He was 38.
Reyes’s wife, TMZ, on July 25, his hometown Whitefish, Mont. She confirmed that she had a major heart attack and was hospitalized. However, she did not regain consciousness and, according to a post on the monument’s Facebook page, her family decided to remove her from life support early in the morning of July 27th.
The family was unaware of the pre-existing health conditions that might have caused a heart attack. According to TMZ, the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office has not yet established an official cause of death.
Reyes has worked on two crab boats, “Deadliest Catch” by Seabrooke and Cape Caution, and has been on the show more than a dozen times since 2012.

McGlashan also paid tribute on July 30 with a photo of Reyes himself, Reyes’s family and friends. “Laugh, cry and remember his brother Mahlon Reyes from the Summer Bay,” McGlashan wrote.
Another tribute on Reyes’s Facebook page says: “He touched too many lives and is smiling and watching there.”
Reyes’s wife was burned and “Deadliest Catch” plans to spread the ashes of her fellow players in the Bering Sea.
Reyes survived by his wife and four children.

The official cause of death will be pending autopsy and toxicology results, the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office told TMZ. Reyes worked on two “Deadliest Catch” boats, Seabrooke and Cape Caution.
