Congressman-elect Luke Letlow has died at age 41 after a heart attack during a procedure related to his COVID-19 infecction, the Louisiana governor and a health official have confirmed.

Letlow announced his diagnosis by tweeting on December 18th: “Thank you everyone for your kind words and prayers. I tested positive for COVID-19. I rest at home, following all CDC guidelines, quarantine protocols, and my doctors’ advice. ”
The governor added, “I ordered the flags to be hung on half staff on the day of Congressman Letlow’s funeral.”
Letlow’s representative Andrew Bautsch confirmed Letlow’s death on WDSU-TV. He told the TV channel that the Congressman died in hospital on December 29, and the cause of death was “due to complications of COVID-19”.
“Letlow was admitted to Monroe Hospital on December 19 after testing positive for coronavirus and was transferred to Ochsner-LSU Health on Tuesday, December 22,” wrote the statement made to the WDSU.

Letlow representative Andrew Bautsch confirmed on December 23 that Letlow has been diagnosed with COVID-19, in a statement titled “status update.” At that time, his condition was listed as stable.
“Congressman-elected Luke Letlow was transferred from St. Francis medical center in Monroe, Los Angeles, to the Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport Academic Medical Center in Shreveport, LA while continuing to be treated for COVID-19,” the statement said. “The Letlow family is deeply grateful to the medical team at St. Francis Medical center in Monroe for their exceptional care and for all the prayers and support they continue to see.”

Currently St. I am being treated for COVID-19 by an amazing team of doctors and nurses at Francis Hospital. I believe that with their help, I will recover soon. ”
He said, “For those who already have Covid, your plasma SPECIFICALLY needs your suffering. I can’t stress it enough. Please go out and consider saving lives by donating to your local blood bank. This could be the gift of the life you give to a family on Christmas.
He was elected to Congress in the 5th District of Louisiana with 62 percent of the vote. “Thank you to my supporters and voters from all corners of # LA05. We are very grateful to those who helped us cross the finish line, ”he wrote. “I am ready to start and focus on bringing business, investment and opportunity to our region!”
