Investigation Reports

The accident is being investigated by the Independent Office of Police Conduct.

David Ford, who is the interim regional director of IOPC, said Kelvin was fatally injured after the police persecution and his thoughts and sympathies are with family and friends.

Sister Kelsey Bainbridge wrote on Facebook: “I want everyone to know how grateful I and my family are for everything that’s being done and put in place for him.

‘Rest in paradise bro. You will be engraved in my heart I will miss you so so much and I will never forget you ever.’ The street is around the corner from two schools, Whitworth Park Academy and The Oaks secondary school, with the atmosphere in the local area described as ‘hostile and tense’. Residents are said to be struggling to come to terms with Mr. Bainbridge’s death.

One woman wrote: ‘RIP Kelvin James Bainbridge. You were always the one who put a smile on my face when the days were dark and always the one who illuminated the atmosphere in a room. You will be loved and missed by so many people. ‘

Christine Glynn added: “This is so sad that he was only 19 years old … his poor family now has to try to come to terms with this (if they can ever).”
