Jersey City Shooting

Jersey City Shooting Updates, Law enforcement agencies are responding to an incident in Jersey City, New Jersey, where officers were shot during a standoff, authorities said.

Law enforcement responded to an “active shooter” in Jersey City, New Jersey, the Newark, New Jersey branch of the US Office for Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), which has tweeted.
In one-quarter of Jersey City broke on Tuesday occasionally heavy shots.

Local media reported that at least one policeman had been shot. It was unclear whether there were other injuries and how many people the governor was referring to.

SWAT teams and federal agents responded to the scene and the police closed the main road where the shots were fired. In the area there is a Catholic school, a few shops, a kosher supermarket and a hairdresser.
Police tactical teams went through the school, which was still blocked according to the scanner traffic.

The shooting occurred in the area of Martin Luther King Drive in Jersey City, across the Hudson River from Manhattan. Several roads were closed and schools were on lockdown.

Jersey City schools are on lockdown “due to police activity” and “all students and staff are safe,” according to a Facebook post on the school district page.
All schools in nearby Bayonne, New Jersey, are “in a shelter-in-place as a precaution due to police activity and investigation in Jersey City,” according to a tweet from the Bayonne Board of Education.
The New Jersey State Police Benevolent Association tweeted: “We need a lot of prayers right now for Jersey City officers. Keep all those involved in your thoughts.”

Andy Patel works at a liquor store about three blocks away from the site of the shooting site and said there had been consistent gunfire fire about an hour Tuesday afternoon.

“I can hear the gunshots. It’s like firecrackers going off. They were shooting like crazy about an hour ago. Then it stopped for like 20 or 30 minutes. The cops were clearing everyone off the streets,” Patel told the Associate Press.
