Joan Sirhan, 68 Beaten to Death: Suspect Jay Hungerford Bio, Wiki, Age
Jay Hungerford, 30, has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of Joan Sirhan, 68, the Apache Junction Police Department said.
A 68-year-old grandmother from Arizona was beaten to death after visiting her daughter and grandchildren on Thursday in what police say was an “unprovoked attack.”
“Um. Sirhan had reportedly just visited her daughter and grandchildren and was on her way to her car to go home when she was attacked,” Apache Junction Police Cpl. Marshall Harshman said. Sirhan was taken to Banner Desert Hospital, where she was pronounced deceased. ”
Harshman said police arrived at the scene around 5:30 p.m. Thursday and found Sirhan unconscious with “extensive wounds to the face and head.”
Officers identified Hungerford as a suspect and arrested him, police said, but did not detail what led them to the suspect.
“Hungerford and Sirhan had no prior contact with each other prior to the incident, and it appears to be an unprovoked attack,” Harshman said.
Hungerford was taken to the Pinal County Detention Center where he is being held without bail pending arraignment.
