His family was angry and angry after a 9-year-old boy was shot dead on Friday night while playing outside at Cabrini rowhouses.
Police fired a group of people behind the townhomes of the Cabrini-Green mass housing development final occupation section Cambridge Avenue, when the gunman 9-year-old Janari Ricks was shot.
As CBS 2 reported on Marissa Parra on Saturday, she has been making at least 16 children under the age of 10 in Chicago since mid-June.
Cabrini-Green once stretched from Evergreen Boulevard in the north to Chicago Boulevard in the south, and the Chicago Transit Authority Brown-Purple Line to Halsted Street in the east to the west.
It was also one of the country’s most famous housing projects for the decade of the sniper attack from the 1970 sniper attack and the controversial temporary move of the then Mayor Jane Byrne to the attention of violence in 1981. In 1992, Cabrini-Green made national headlines to kill 7-year-old Dantrell Davis by a sniper at a height, an incident that caused a gang fire on Cleveland Avenue.
Since the late 1990s, Cabrini-Green has undergone a major transformation to reduce this dignity – it has also raised complaints about gentrification. Between 1995 and 2011 all high and medium rises fell with new developments, such as the Target store and luxury apartments that replaced some of them, and vacant spaces where others once stood.
All that’s left now is the Cabrini Rowhouses, the oldest part of the 1940s development. While only 137 units were occupied even among the rowhouses, 450 units were fenced and got on the plane.
Don’t stand side by side in 2020. A fancy Starbucks stands a few steps away from where mothers were waiting for the loss of 9-year-old Janari on Saturday – but another boy was killed on the street playing outside.

Janari’s mother, Jalisa Ford, “Mom, can I go out and play?” He says and I said “Sure”. “And when I went out, I never returned home.”
Basketball and soccer balls reach the place where Ford says goodbye to his son in the form of balloons.
The 9-year-old boy was bleeding after being shot while playing outside of the row house in block 900 of North Cambridge Boulevard.
“I was so devastated,” said Ford.
Janari, who was good at sports, good at math and loved by everyone, was going to the talented program. However, Ford’s only child will now have a memory forever in Cabrini-Green – another child in Chicago also said he would come.
“I’m not angry with anyone. I need answers just why,” Ford said. “When will he stop?”
For weeks, the cry of dropping arms has echoed around the city. Since mid-June, at least 16 children under the age of 10 have been shot in Chicago, and five have died – including Janari.
“Bless peace spirits and their families,” said Darrell 4 Peace Partnership Communities Dacres. “They had no chance to speak, so we try to make our children in our community sound.”
There was anger over violence on Saturday, and the young Blacks were lost. A group went out on the streets to ask for more resources and justice for children.
A Kids’ Lives Matter march had also just wrapped up on 63rd Street when Janari was shot in broad daylight across town on Friday.
Mayor Lori Lightfoot addressed the shooting on Twitter Saturday morning saying “prayers alone will not sooth a broken heart.”
