Who is Jack Sherman? Red Hot Chili Peppers Guitarist Dies at 64

Jack Sherman was the most famous and the second guitarist for the Red Hot Chili Peppers and a contributor to the band’s early work, has died at the age of 64. His death was confirmed on the group’s official Instagram page: “We of the RHCP family would like to wish Jack Sherman smooth sailing into the worlds beyond, for he has passed.”
The statement continues: “Jack played on our first US tour as well as our debut album. He was a unique man and we always thank him for the good, the bad and the in-between. Peace on the Boogie platform. “The cause of death was not immediately specified.


Sherman was born in Miami, Florida, on January 18, 1956. On-and-off guitarist for the Red Hot Chili Peppers Hillel Slovak was replaced by Jack Sherman in 1983 before they recorded their debut album. At the time, Sherman told Billboard in an interview: “It is really painful to see all these celebrations going on and be excluded. I’m not claiming to bring anything else to the group… but I’m not claiming that I have served in the military to try to make something work under difficult conditions, and I think that’s what you do in a job, looking back. And this is embarrassing. I’m being honored and this sucks. ”
Pioneer Anthony Kiedis wrote in his autobiography Scar Tissue that although Sherman was successful in auditioning, he did not have a “punk-rock” pedigree.
