Northeast Louisiana Ambulance spokesman Shane Scott confirmed that Marshall Waters, a full-time EMT with NELA and part-time police officer in Mangham, had been flown to Rapides Medical Center after the shooting.

In a Facebook post, Franklin Parish Sheriff Kevin Cobb reported this at approximately 13:00. officer Franklin and Richland launched a traffic stop in Louisiana 425 near the Parish line.

Scott said Waters was shot once in the abdomen under his vest during the stop.

According to law enforcement, the suspect in the shooting was reported to have fled south to Franklin Parish in US 425.

The Richland Parish Sheriff’s Office issued a recommendation about the vehicle, and a matching car was found in wreckage in Louisiana 562 near Fort Necessity.
