The three thugs then rained down blows on their outnumbered victim before wrestling the money bag from him and fleeing the scene of their violence.
Mr. Bocchetti, who was left shaken by the attack, said: ‘I’ve been beaten and I feared for my life.
‘I’ve been robbed on the night of Tuesday after agreeing with a sale on Facebook for a car. I was met by an individual on the Birmingham station after traveling from Bournemouth.
‘He walked me from the station to an alleyway where the other two were waiting.
‘These three attacked me, stealing my rucksack and the money inside of it.’
On Tuesday night, he met the scam salesman at the city’s New Street Station before being led into Bath Passage in the Chinese Quarter.
Selfies taken by Mr Bocchetti lay bare the violence inflicted on him and show his ripped t-shirt and gash on the side of his head.
