Faye Swetlik was last seen playing in her front yard in Cayce after taking the bus home from school Monday. More than 250 officers and investigators spent the past few days searching for her.
The body of 6-year-old Faye Swetlik, missing since Monday after vanishing outside her home in South Carolina, was found Thursday, authorities said.
Faye Swetlik’s family told SC authorities that they last saw Faye Swetlik when she was playing in the front yard of her residence around 3:33 p.m. on Londonberry Lane after she got off the school bus on Monday, February 10
She was in first grade at Springdale Elementary School. On Thursday, February 13, 2020, Lexington School District Two released the following statement regarding Faye’s death:
“We are heart-broken with news of the death of Faye Swetlik, a first-grade student at Springdale Elementary, who went missing earlier this week. When the school community experiences a tragedy like the loss of a child, it deeply affects all of us.
“Below please find information we sent to our families this afternoon. We will not have further public comment or interviews in coming days, as we focus on supporting our Springdale students, faculty and staff.
“We thank all of the law enforcement agencies that have worked tirelessly this week to bring Faye home. As this investigation is ongoing, we ask anyone who might have information that would help law enforcement to call the hotline at 803-205-4444.”

The family told police that Faye got off the school bus at her regular stop near the Churchill Heights subdivision and made it home safely. Around 3:45 p.m., the family noticed she was missing and called the police by 5 p.m., police said.
Officials said Faye was last seen wearing a black shirt with the word “PEACE” written in neon colors, a floral skirt and polka dot boots. She has a speech impediment and is lactose intolerant.
According to Antley, Faye, a first-grader at Springdale Elementary School, got off her bus on Monday afternoon and safely arrived at her house in the Churchill Heights neighborhood.
He said, Sometime around 3:45 p.m., her family realized Faye was missing.
The FBI has also joined the search,” We’re not sure if she just walked off and is somewhere in the woods or at a neighbor’s house possibly in distress or fallen or something like that,” Antley said Tuesday.
Police were called around 5 p.m. and began a search with more than 100 law enforcement personnel, including K-9s. The number of searchers increased to more than 250 by Tuesday.
Faye was last seen wearing a black shirt with the word “peace” on it. She was also wearing a flower print skirt and polka dot rain boots, according to the Cayce Department of Public Safety. She is 3 feet 10 inches and weighs about 65 pounds.

Faye Swetlik was last seen playing in her yard at 16 Londonderry Lane in Cayce, off Highway 302, after coming home from school Monday.
On Wednesday night, officials released a new video showing two vehicles in the neighborhood during the time Faye was last seen. Officials say investigators have yet to identify or interview the occupants and continue to talk to everyone who was in Churchhill Heights.
Officials talked about the vehicles seen in Faye’s neighborhood around the time of her disappearance.
