Drew Drechsel is best known as the 2019’s “American Ninja Warrior” champion who made the winning rope climb for Team USA in the 2019 ‘USA vs. the World’ American Ninja Warrior competition, and who also participated on Team USA in the 2020 competition.
American Ninja Warrior winner was arrested at his home in St. Cloud, Florida on Tuesday on a series of child s*x crime charges. He allegedly began a s*xual relationship with a 15-year-old girl in New Jersey back in 2015, the US Attorney’s Office of the District of New Jersey announced in a press release.
Drew Drechsel Met The Girl at an ANW contestant event
Drechsel met the victim at an American Ninja Warrior contestant event where they exchanged numbers.
The alleged victim, living in New Jersey at the time, organized her gym by Drechsel to gift the Real Life Ninja Academy in Hamden, Connecticut, for her 15th birthday in July 2015.
The two met at Drechsel’s office after his girlfriend April Beckner left the building. Drechsel then put a bed and blanket behind a wall and took care of the teenager.
The next day, the girl told her mother about her encounter with Drechsel. However, Drechsel ‘did not refuse sexual activity when faced with the victim’s mother, but on the contrary, stated that he did not know his age at that time.
Drew Drechsel Met The Girl Again Weeks Later
After a few weeks, Dreschel contacted the girl to be in relations again, according to the prosecutors.
He reportedly told the victim that the next time they met, unlike on the previous occasion they would not have ‘time to deal with [victim’s] shyness and timidity’.
The following January, Drechsel texted the girl to inform her he was travelling from Connecticut to New Jersey and told her he wanted to meet her again.
He picked the alleged victim and drove her to the parking lot of a restaurant in Marlton where they got involved.
Drew Drechsel Under Investigation
According to Drechsel’s bank account activity, his card was charged at the Marlton restaurant for $37.76 on January 2, 2016 – the same day the girl claims the encounter took place, according to the complaint.
The victim claimed to have had s*x several more times with Drechsel between the time she was 15 and 17 years old.
S*xual images and video footage of the girl, recorded on Skype by Drechsel, was found by investigators on Drechsel’s old cell phone. One of the images was taken when she was just 14.
The complaint against Drechsel came to the police in June 2019, when the girl became 19.
Drew Drechsel To Be Imprisoned Lifetime
Drechsel’s lawyer, Frank Riccio, said on Tuesday that his client claimed he was not guilty of all charges.
“Drechsel accusations are assumed to be innocent, and this assumption will remain throughout the case. He plans to make a “not guilty” claim. Respectfully yours, you are kindly requested to respect the privacy of Drechsel and his family. ”Dr Ricsel’s lawyer Frank Riccio tweeted.
Drechsel faces up to 95 years in prison, with a maximum fine of $ 250,000.
A few hours after the complaint was released, Beckner deleted his public social media profiles and made Drechsel Instagram account private.
