Denise Clark Bradford is an American Gospel singer and a former member of The Clark Sisters. She left The Clark Sisters in 1986 after she got pregnant through an extramarital affair with a bishop.

Denise is the daughter of Dr. Mattie Moss Clark and Elbert Clark. Her mother was a gospel choir director credited for creating the three-part harmony (separating vocal parts into soprano, alto, and tenor). She died on September 22, 1994 due to diabetes complications.

Her other son Lorenzo Clark appeared on Jacky Clark-Chisholm’s album Expectancy which was released on March 29, 2005.
Denise Clark The Clark Sisters
Denise was a member of The Clark Sisters which consisted of her and other four sisters; Jacky Clark Chisholm, Elbernita “Twinkie” Clark, Dorinda Clark-Cole, and Karen Clark Sheard. She was known for her high pitched, youthful singing voice and used her piercing soprano vocals. She was also known for her runs and high melismas. She left the group in 1986 but her sisters continued to make music.
Since leaving the group she relocated to California and began ministry. In 2008 The Clark Sisters were featured on TV One’s popular hour-long music documentary series Unsung but Denise was not featured in the documentary.
What Happened to Denise Clark of the Clark Sisters
Denise left The Clark Sisters in early 1986 because she became pregnant by a bishop, out of wedlock, and was being instructed to have an abortion. In February 2019 while speaking with Talk show host Larry Teid she said;
“Nobody kicked me out. I was tired of things I was experiencing behind having my children. And that coming about, I wasn’t going to get rid of my children. I was being counseled to get rid of my children. I’m here to clear up the hearsay.”
Do The Clark Sisters Talk to Denise
It is not clear whether the sisters talk to Denise but in 2019 during her first-ever appearance on Facebook Live she said that she traveled from the West Coast to Detroit to visit sister Twinkie, who was having medical issues and potentially hospitalized but was not allowed to see her.
She told Larry, “I speak to my truth. And I refuse to let people change me because of what they want to hear, instead of the truth. This is my life. I’ve told my truth, and there’s no reason to question it. I love my family dearly. I love the parents who brought us in here. But there’s been a lot of disgrace…and I kept quiet about it because I didn’t want to cause tension or pressure.”
Denise Clark At Mother’s Funeral
During Denise’s mother’s funeral she allegedly caused a scene when she showed up and showed out with her three son’s lined up in tow. The scene has also been incorporated in The Clark Sisters: First Ladies of Gospel biopic. According to Larry Clark, Denise’s son, there might be some truth to the biopic.
