David E. Alsager is an old retired longtime swim coach with Mt. Pleasant Public Schools and city recreation. He is in the spotlight after being arrested on Wednesday, March 4th by the Mt. Pleasant police following an investigation into whether he engaged in sex with a child.

Alsager was a fixture in local youth swim organizations. He coached at the Mt. Pleasant Public Schools and the Pacers Swin Club. A phone call was placed to Mt. Pleasant Schools superintendent Jennifer Verleger about Alsager’s employment with the district. She hasn’t returned the call.
He is also listed in the minutes of a 2003 Central Michigan University board meeting as retiring as faculty from the university’s recreation department.
David E. Alsager retired from Central Michigan University as a faculty in the recreation department in 2003. An email was sent to CMU’s University Communications asking if it was the same person. They have yet to respond.
David E. Alsager accused of Sexually molesting a 12-year-old girl
According to a press release from the Mt. Pleasant Police Department, it was reported that the November 30th, 2019, the sexual molesting incident involved a 12-year-old girl. The press release said the investigation was completed and forwarded to the Isabella County Prosecutor’s Office.
Alsager was charged with one count of second-degree criminal sexual conduct in the courtroom of Circuit Court Judge Sara Spencer-NoggleIf convicted, Alsager faces up to 15 years in prison.

David E. Alsager, 66, of Mt. Pleasant was arrested and booked into the Isabella County Jail for approximately six hours Wednesday before being released on a $20,000 bond. He was originally scheduled for arraignment Thursday, but that was rescheduled for March 3.
