Darius Sessoms (Cannon Hinnant Suspect shooter Arrested) Wiki – Darius Sessoms Bio
Darius Sessoms, 25, was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service and charged with first-degree murder Monday night for allegedly shooting and killing 5-year-old Cannon Hinnant roughly 24 hours earlier, according to WRAL.
No official motive has been determined, but police say the shooting was not random.
A witness to the conflict said that Hinnant was playing in the street in front of his father’s house, when he saw Sessoms sitting next door, he walked towards the boy, pointed a gun at his head and opened fire before he ran away.
Hinnant’s mother said that the boy’s two sisters, aged 8 and 7, had witnessed the shooting.
Sessoms was reportedly on friendly terms with Hinnant’s father, and a neighbor claimed that the two had dinner the night before and visited each other on the day of the shooting.
A GoFundMe page was created to help the family with funeral expenses and over $ 5,000 was raised.
On the page created by Hinnant’s cousin, “He enjoys his life for a minute, then it’s all over because he goes to his neighbors’ garden.” “5 years old kids !! Nothing prepares a parent for the loss of their children. No child’s future should be stolen from them. ”
The news about the young boy’s death was shared on Twitter by several political experts and personalities, including the conservative commentator and writer Michelle Malkin who tweeted “#JusticeForCannonHinnant”.
His commentator and writer friend Ryan Girdusky tweeted, “We need justice for the 5-year-old Cannon Hinnant, who was killed in cold blood.”
Producer and director Robby Starbuck said, “Cannon Hinnant, 5, was executed in front of his sisters for accidentally cycling in his neighbors’ garden. “There’s no equivalent pain that our justice system can inflict on murderer Darius Sessoms. CNN and MSNBC didn’t even cover it.”
Wilson County District Court Judge John Britt told Sessoms during a virtual hearing on Tuesday that he has a right to represent himself, hire a lawyer or he could ask for a court-appointed lawyer. Sessoms, who is being held in the Wilson County jail without bond, said he wanted to try to hire a lawyer.
Wilson police said officers responding to a report of a shooting at a mobile home park found Cannon Hinnant suffering from a gunshot wound. Capt. Steve Stroud said officers and emergency personnel performed first aid before the boy was taken to Wilson Medical Center, where he died.
