Dar Leaf Biography – Dar Leaf Wikipedia

Sheriff Dar Leaf, in an interview with Fox 17 West Michigan, said that the militia may have been trying to make a citizen’s arrest of Whitmer for her COVID-19 lockdown policies, adding, “a lot of people are angry with the governor.”

A sheriff from Barry County, Michigan, on Thursday, appeared to defend the right-wing Wolverine Watchmen militia members charged with a plot to kidnap Governor Gretchen Whitmer and create unrest.

Leaf also appeared on the scene speaking with William Null, one of the suspects currently facing state terrorism charges, at an anti-lockdown rally in May and said he did not regret his debut.

Dar told Fox 17’s Aaron Parseghian that he was “shocked” when he saw the accusations against Wolverine Watchmen, some of whom he knew personally and shared a scene during the spring protests against Whitmer’s stay-at-home orders in the state.

“I haven’t seen this coming from those guys, but we still can’t condemn them in the news media here,” Leaf said. “They have the right to a fair trial.”

Leaf then defended the militia and suggested that what they planned could be a legal citizen arrest.

“They say it’s just a blame and kidnapping plan, but you must remember this, are they trying to kidnap?” Leaf said. “Because many people get angry with the governor and want him arrested. So are they trying to arrest it or was it a kidnapping attempt? Because if it’s still a crime in Michigan, you can make a heavy arrest. ”

Leaf cited parts of Michigan’s penal code that he claimed could allow citizens to arrest the governor.

“I think MCO 764.4 or something like that, 0.5, somewhere out there,” Leaf said. “If you are in the elected post, this does not say that you are exempt from arrest. So, I have to look at it from that angle and hopefully it is more.”

Under the Michigan Penal Code 764.16, a “private citizen” can arrest if a crime is committed in his or her presence or if the arrested person has committed a crime elsewhere. Also, if law enforcement requests ask them to assist an officer making the arrest, they may be involved.

It was unclear what crime Leaf had suggested that Whitmer might have committed.

Heavy left a message on Leaf asking for more comments, but didn’t get an immediate response.

On May 18, Leaf spoke at an anti-lockout protest at the Rosa Parks Circle in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and opposed Whitmer’s housekeeping scheme and praised the militia members who joined him, including William Null. scene.

You can watch all of Leaf’s explanations here. In the video, Null is seen standing with a rifle in his hand to Leaf’s right.

Leaf compared the barbers who defied state isolation orders with Rosa Parks in his speech, joked about rectal thermometers, and claimed that Whitmer’s stay-at-home orders meant arresting citizens.

“It basically takes away your free will, the right to act. It’s an arrest,” he said. “Are you arrested when you are ordered to go home? Yes, you are by definition. ”

Leaf then invited militia members, including Null, to stand out for recognition on the stage. “A well organized [militia],” Leaf said to applause. “Look at the nice guys here.”

“This is our last home defense here, ladies and gentlemen,” he went on, claiming that the state militias had “common law grand juries” and jury power. Two functions the governor doesn’t want you to know, he added.

“I want you to remember that the next time Hillary Clinton calls these guys indigenous terrorists,” she said. He killed more people than them.

Leaf did not reply to Heavy’s phone message for comment. His Twitter account was also locked on Friday afternoon.
