More than 77,000 people were without power Sunday night, according to Oncor.
Dallas fire crews responded to a report of the collapse of a structure in northwest Dallas, between Walnut Hill Lane and Harry Hines Boulevard. According to the report, a building collapsed, power lines were lying on the street and a car was next to it after the tornado passed.
Everything indicated that the Home Depot in Forest Lane and Central Expressway may have received a direct hit from the tornado. The roof had collapsed and water rushed from the pipes that had been torn from the walls.
A Home Depot employee said store employees had been sent home before the storms and that there was no one inside when the storm hit.

In the parking lot of the El Rancho supermarket in Marsh Lane, near Walnut Hill Lane, the car windows had disappeared. The interior of the store seemed collapsed. An air conditioner that seemed to have been torn off the roof was among the rubble.
Leonardo Noriega, 46, was driving home along Marsh Lane after picking up some Chinese food when the roar of the tornado rushed over him. He heard the sirens and directed his white van to the parking lot of the mall in Marsh, northeast of Walnut Hill.

Then everything went dark. “When the sirens started, I stopped right there. It was very fast, ”he said.
He lay on the floor of his truck just as each window was breaking into thousands of bits that glowed in the seats.

Shocked, Noriega looked at a red truck that was still on the street, about 15 feet from his, and in a worse state than his.
“That man was in bad shape. They took him to the hospital, ”he said.
Several blocks at the north end of Dallas County were without power and the fallen tree branches scattered throughout the area.
