An Alaska teen Cody Roehl is accused of murdering four relatives, including two young children, and attempting to kill a third child.
According to KTOO, police responded to a call reporting gunshots at a residence near Wasilla at about 3 a.m. Monday morning. Responding officers first discovered 18-year-old Cody Roehl, who had been shot but was still alive. Roehl was transported to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The report shows that three other victims, a woman and two young children, were in a separate residence in Palmer, where police received gunshots at around 3:30 am Roehl, 18-year-old Malachi Maxon’s cousin, said a statement from the Alaska State Troopers news station. We believe he shot and then stole a jeep and firearm and went to his home in Palmer, where he allegedly shot and killed Roehl’s mother, 43-year-old Kimora Buster, and two others. Children between 7 and 10 years old; also Maxon’s cousins. Police reportedly found evidence that Maxon tried to shoot a third child in the house in Palmer.
At around 4 am, soldiers caught Maxon driving on the Glenn Highway, according to KTOO. Initially, the suspect tried to escape and allegedly tried to unsheath a soldier’s gun but failed. Reportedly being monitored electronically while awaiting trial on domestic violence charges, Maxon was arrested and charged with attempted murder and several first-degree murders as well as attempting to escape law enforcement.
The affidavit indicates that Maxon was at Roehl’s house on Sunday night or Monday morning, and there were no reports of arguments or conflicts.
Investigators have not yet commented on a possible cause.
