Coach Gerrell Williams Wiki – Coach Gerrell Williams Biography
A youth soccer coach from Savannah was banned for life from a nationwide sporting organization after a video showing him repeatedly slapping a player in the under-nine team during a tournament in Florida.
American Youth Football (EIF), the world’s largest youth football and cheering organization, responded to the video by banning Savannah Gators coach Gerrell Williams for life and providing viral footage to the Osceola (Florida) Sheriff’s Department. Although there have been reports of Williams being indicted for the incident, there are no records filed on the department website.
The viral cell phone video, which received criticism from LeBron James and retired NFL star Shannon Sharpe, shows Williams hitting and slapping one of his players twice as the boy ran off the field. The second slap knocked the boy down.
The age of the child has not been disclosed.
“Not possible!” James wrote on Instagram. “Hell… even when we’re gone, we sure have more than words.”
Sharp, who is currently a host on the FS1 sports network, tweeted, “Even if this is his kid, I will whip him.” I will not let anyone weak or vulnerable in front of me pray. It won’t happen. ‘
Williams, wrongly described as ‘Alexis Cobb’ in the press, apologized in a social media video.
“Everyone was watching the video” began the man who was supposed to be Williams, although he never identified himself specifically. Everyone has something negative to say.
“I will apologize for what I did about what happened today,” he continued. But at the end of the day I am a man and I will give no excuse for what I did. I was wrong. I shouldn’t have punished [the child] in public. I should have waited until I got back.
At the end of the day, I apologize to him, the children, the city and my family who returned home. Sorry.’
Williams later ended his apology by explaining that his critics had to stop their attacks on him because the boy’s parents had already forgiven him.
My actions have no excuse, she finished. ‘I hope [the actor] forgives me and his family forgives me, so no one should attack me. Thank you.’
TMZ reported that Williams was fired from his job at the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office in Georgia in response to the viral video.
The team was more or less silent about this, but according to many reports, Gators made a statement that has since been deleted on Facebook: ‘The guy in the video is our 9U head coach, he’s a good guy we understand and what’s happening, and we’d like to apologize to #BigPeachConference. … ‘
The AYF made its own statement.
“Earlier this week, EIF tournament officials were given mobile phone video of 9U coach Gerrell Williams, in total violation of the EIF’s Code of Conduct.” The video was handed over to the EIF the morning after the incident and delivered to the Osceola County Sheriff.
Williams was even banned from watching Gators matches at the youth tournament held in Kissimmee, Florida, this week.
EIF Deputy Managing Director Adam Laufer also told TMZ: “We were of course disappointed in the coach’s actions, which were completely inconsistent with the core value of youth sports.
