Former Egoli actress Christine Basson has died after apparently battling with failing health at a high-care unit at a old-age home in Johannesburg., Basson’s body deteriorated, her mind was fine until the end.
According to Netwerk24, Basson passed away at 4.45am on Monday morning.

“Our beloved friend Christine Basson – for many the strong motherly figure Nora Naudé from Egoli – peacefully went home this morning. She will be missed,” a friend of Basson, Reinet Louw Kemp, said in a post on Facebook.
“Legendary actress Christine Basson has died. She was a true legend and icon. I learnt a lot from her as a mentor when I was a young actress,” actress Lizz Meiring tweeted.
According to a friend of Basson’s, the actress was in poor health in the months leading up to her death, having fractured her coccyx and being in a lot of pain due to osteoporosis.
