aoimhe Morgan’s body was found yesterday in the Harcourt Road area of north Belfast.
Detectives investigating the death of a young woman in North Belfast on Saturday have named the victim as Caoimhe Morgan.
The body of the 30-year-old man was discovered on a property on Harourt Drive yesterday morning and a 30-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder remains in police custody at this time.
On Sunday, a PSNI spokesperson said: “Police would appeal to anyone found in the Harcourt Drive area and witnessing something or someone with information that could aid this investigation to contact detectives at 101 citing reference 790 12/18/21.
“Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, which is 100% anonymous.”
SDLP North Belfast MLA Nichola Mallon expressed her shock after the reports of the alleged murder.
She said: “The local community is deeply shocked to learn of the alleged murder of a woman on Harcourt Drive in North Belfast this morning. This news is disturbing and I would urge anyone with any information to pass it on to the police. .
“My thoughts are with the family and friends of the victim at this extremely distressing time, as they face the worst news any of us can imagine.”
Police confirmed that a 30-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of murder.
Last night, when forensic teams began their investigations at the property on Harcourt Drive, police maintained a low-key presence outside the home where he took his last breath from him.
A double stroller belonging to Mrs. Morgan’s twin babies was in the driveway and Christmas lights shone from an upstairs window, a reminder of the bright young mother’s life.
Bags of evidence were taken from the crime scene, as many neighbors closed their blinds out of respect.
As his family tried to come to terms with the shock that their loved one had been taken from him in brutal circumstances, the police were questioning a 30-year-old man.
