Austin Denton was a boy from New Mexico, who was diagnosed with a rare spinal cord tumor, has died at the age of 18. Denton had been in remission for 10 years at the time of his death. According to his Twitter Bio, He planned to be a student journalist at Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication. He also served as the school’s sports team’s social media director.

Diagnosed with a rare spinal cord tumor at 2 years old, Austin was in remission for ten years following rounds of chemotherapy and surgery. According to a news release from the New Mexico Activities Association, Austin died on Tuesday following complications resulting from a tumor.
Austin Denton was born in 2001 and he died 17 December 2019 at the age of 18.
Work and Education
Austin was a graduate of La Cueva High School in Albuquerque. During his time in high school, Denton was known as the voice of “La Cueva High, thanks to his sports announcing.
Austin was known in the Albuquerque community as a high school sports enthusiast, as well as a broadcaster for ESPN Radio 101.7 The Team. He started broadcasting early on, conducting interviews with football coaches and became an announcer for basketball and baseball games at La Cueva.
He was a broadcaster on ESPN Albuquerque 1017 and ProView TV. Denton had a profile on the ESPN Albuquerque homepage.
Although he was bound to a wheelchair, he lived a full life and inspired others to “Seize the Moment.”
“Thank you for showing me that anything possible in life and that nothing can hold anyone back,” said Austin Smith, one of his friends.

Austin died early Tuesday after suffering complications from a spinal tumor. The recent graduate of La Cueva leaves a great legacy and a long list of achievements.
Austin was the voice of the sports program La Cueva Bears, played play by play for the local sports radio and interviewed countless professional athletes. Austin even called a draft pick for his favorite team: the Denver Broncos.
But even more impressive, he didn’t let his health problems get in the way of his dreams.

Denton, previously active on Twitter, had not tweeted since October 2018. Denton also maintained a blog, Sports Any Time. The last blog post on that page came on November 1 and was a preview of the “UFC 244” pay-per-view event.
