The authorities in Georgia said a shooter ran into a container plant outside of Atlanta and opened fire on one of his employees early Friday.

The shootout took place at 7 a.m. and the building was evacuated, a statement from Dart Container Corp said.

Law enforcement and medical personnel are on site. The condition of the shot person was not immediately known.

According to the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office, the authorities have identified “a person of interest” for the shootout. No further details were given.

At least three schools and county school traffic offices were blocked, Rockdale County Schools said on Twitter at 8:34 a.m.CET.

“All of our students and staff are safe. No visitors are currently allowed on campus,” the tweet said.
Dart Container manufactures and distributes food service products such as cups, plates, containers, lids and straws to plants and centers across the country, including the Conyers factory, according to the company’s website.
The FBI field office staff are on-site to assist local authorities to support law enforcement response, the federal agency said.
