Ari Behn Biography
Ari Mikael Behn was a Norwegian author. He wrote three novels, two collections of short stories, and a book about his wedding. His 1999 short stories collection Trist som faen (“Sad as hell”) sold about 100,000 copies and received several favourable reviews. His books have been translated into Swedish, Danish, German, Hungarian, and Icelandic as well as French. In the spring of 2011, Behn made his debut as a playwright with Treningstimen, directed by Kim Sørensen and staged at Rogaland Teater.
Ari Behn suffered from depression throughout large parts of his life.
His breakthrough book was called literally “Sad as hell” & his latest, “Inferno”, dealt with experiencing what he described as ‘a living hell’ struggling with his own psyche.

Behn married Princess Märtha Louise on 24 May 2002. Behn remained a citizen and held no title or special privileges during the marriage; since 1814 Norway has no nobility and no concept of commoners, only citizens. They had three daughters, all of whom are also untitled citizens: Maud Angelica Behn (born 2003 in Oslo), Leah Isadora Behn (born 2005), and Emma Tallulah Behn (born 2008).
On 5 August 2016, the Royal Court announced that Princess Märtha Louise and Behn had started divorce proceedings and intended to have joint custody of their three daughters. They were divorced in 2017.
Behn made headlines in Norwegian newspapers in the fall of 2006 when he announced that he was voting for the Norwegian Labor Party. His friendship with the former Minister of Culture and Labor, Trond Giske, has been criticized by newspapers and politicians. In January 2009, Behn received massive media coverage in the Norwegian press after he said in a “personal vendetta” against former palace official Carl-Erik Grimstad that he was accused of spreading tabloid nonsense about Behn and his family.
Ari Mikael Divorce
In December 2017, Behn claimed that he was among a growing number of men who had been sexually assaulted by Kevin Spacey. He accused Spacey of groping around the genitals in a nightclub during the afterparty for the Nobel Peace Prize concert in 2007.
