The couple had been the biggest Star Wars fans. In 2013, Peter Mayhew and his wife, Angie, went to New Orleans and rode alongside the Krewe of Chewbacchus in the parade, sitting atop a Millennium Falcon-shaped float. During this event, the Intergalactic sci-fi squad bestowed upon Mayhew the honor of being their “Emperor for Life.”

Peter Mayhew Death and Cause

On May 2nd, 2019, Mayhew’s family announced that he had died at his home on April 30, just weeks from his 75th birthday.
In July 2018, Mayhew underwent spinal surgery. At the time, he took to social media to let his fans know why he’d been quiet.

The actor tweeted, “Sorry, I’ve been quiet as of late. I’ve been planning & going through some spinal surgery to improve my mobility. It’s been a success & I’ll be spending the upcoming weeks recovering. A big thank you to the doctors, staff, my family & friends that have helped me through this.” he added.
