Andres Morales Wiki – Andres Morales Biography
Andres Morales is a New Jersey officer who was off duty when he refused to pull over and then led police on a dangerous high-speed chase, prosecutors said.
Andres Morales, a member of the Saddle Brook Police Department, was charged with evading police in connection with the October 3 incident at Ridgefield, Bergan County Prosecutor Mark Musella said on Thursday.
Morales, 29, said it started when he was caught speeding at around 2:35 AM in a BMW and then refused to stop traffic.
“When the following officer canceled the chase, he finally survived,” he said.
“The pursuit was later terminated due to the overspeeding and endangering of the stalking officer and the general public,” the prosecutor said.
Morales was arrested on Wednesday. He was also suspended as an officer.
Saddle Brook Police Chief Robert Kugler told Newark Star-Ledger that two other members of the division, including a lieutenant, were suspended as part of the investigation.
“This is a serious matter and if confirmed as reported, I would be equally disappointed and annoyed not only by Officer Morales, but by other officials who may have been directly and / or indirectly involved in the circumstances of this serious issue,” Kugler told the newspaper.
