The daughter of former Omaha Mayor Jim Suttle Amber Tjaden, according to officials, has been missing since January 27.
NOW News 1011 reports that 48-year-old Amber Tjaden, of Weeping Water, could be in a 2019 black Jaguar model “F-Pace” with the Nebraska license plate, 20-T-638. Cass County Sheriff Bill Brueggemann is asking the public to be on the lookout for Amber and the vehicle.

According to an arrest affidavit, authorities tried to make contact with Amber’s husband, Matthew Tjaden, last week to question him about his wife’s disappearance. ABC 7 reports that a child at Tjaden’s home told deputies that Matthew wasn’t home and gave the deputies the man’s number.
When police called the number, Matthew Tjaden allegedly said that he was “out looking for his wife and would not come back to speak with investigators.” He explained that his wife left home after an argument they had and he hadn’t heard from her since.
Tjaden, however, hadn’t reported his wife missing. When deputies questioned him, Tjaden said he thought he had to wait at least 48 hours before filing a report.
Deputies told Tjaden they would stay at his property until he arrived home. Tjaden reportedly became upset and screamed for deputies to “Get the f— off my property.”
When Matthew Tjaden returned home, he allegedly refused to drive up his driveway. He fled briefly after deputies put their cruiser lights on, but eventually drove back to his driveway, where he refused to cooperate with the deputies.
An arrest affidavit indicated that authorities used a Taser on Tjaden and arrested him for flight to avoid arrest and child neglect. The couple’s youngest children are now in state care.
On Monday, Tjaden was released from jail.
Court documents indicate that Amber Tjaden filed two restraining orders against her husband in 2015. She described her husband as becoming mentally unstable while displaying “bizarre” behavior. Amber reportedly added that she thought her husband was using drugs.
The documents also stated that Amber accused Matthew Tjaden and “ranting and raving,” punches walls, breaking photo frames, and threatening to kill Amber and her father.
“I am in a constant state of fear for the safety of my children and myself,” Amber wrote.
A judge granted the protective orders against Matthew Tjaden but both orders were later dismissed.
Omaha World-Herald reports that Suttle, who served in office from 2009 to 2013, said that his family is “hanging in there” while working closely with law enforcement to find his daughter.
“We don’t know where to look, it’s like looking for a needle in a haystack,” Suttle said. “If we can find that car, then we’ll find Amber.”
